NORWALK, CT, May 9, 2008 - The grand opening of the Health and Wellness Center of Norwalk Hospital at i.park will be held on Sunday, June 1, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the new facility located at 761 Main Avenue in Norwalk. "We want to invite our entire community to join us and our public officials in celebrating the opening of this beautiful new Health and Wellness Center located on the Norwalk/Wilton line," said Geoffrey Cole, president and CEO of Norwalk Hospital.

"This state-of-the-art complex, conveniently located, enables our private physicians to expand services to meet the health care needs of the community now and well into the future," said Mr. Cole. This facility will provide leased space in one location to private practicing physicians.

The grand opening on June 1 will feature food, entertainment, face painting and a health and wellness fair for adults and children that will include "Ask the Doctor," blood pressure screenings, heights/weights, sun safety with a sophisticated skin analyzer that helps people learn the current health of their skin and risk of developing skin cancer, plus much more. Another highlight of this event will be the opportunity to meet Norwalk Hospital EMS personnel and tour the Norwalk Hospital ambulance parked on site near the tent. And this is all offered free as a public service and in grateful appreciation to the community for its support of Norwalk Hospital.

The event will take place in a tent outside the Center entrance, the southern entry of the building. In addition, the public will be able to tour the new Health and Wellness Center, including the three medical practices that became the initial occupants -- The Center for Advanced Pediatrics, Soundview Medical Associates and Women's Healthcare of New England.

All the festivities for the Grand Opening will commence at 1:00 p.m. with a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony with Norwalk Mayor Richard Moccia and Wilton First Selectman William Brennan participating.

The new facility has a two-story atrium with natural lighting, bamboo trees and a Japanese garden on the roof, all conducive to a very tranquil setting, promoting health and wellness. It is conveniently located on Route 7, one-tenth of a mile from the I-95 connector and one fourth of a mile from the Merritt Parkway. This area is also easily accessible through public transportation.

The building itself, formerly occupied by Perkin-Elmer Corporation, is LEED Certified, which means it is recognized for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a Federal Department of Energy nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. This certification process evaluates performance in site development, energy efficiency, water savings, and indoor environmental quality.

"We are most appreciative to our private practice physicians, community, public officials and our Board of Trustees for the tremendous support Norwalk Hospital has received in its efforts to develop this Center," Mr. Cole said.

"As we continue to expand both on campus and into the community, we remain committed to being the region's leader in the development of innovative programs and services to enhance health care and preventive medicine," Mr. Cole said.
